Why is my Rechargeable Refill is Not Full?
The amount of liquid in each rechargeable cartridge varies depending on the number of protection hours. For our larger cartridges, a 40-hour refill will be completely full, while a 36-hour refill will have slightly less liquid. For our smaller cartridges, the 18 hour will be about ½ full, the 12 hour will be about ¼ full, and the 8 hour will be just below ¼ full. Please click here for a visual chart of all refill levels.
How much are Thermacell Refills?
Thermacell refill costs depend on the type of repeller being used. Fuel-powered Thermacell repellers require fuel and mat refills, while rechargeable Thermacell repellers use rechargeable refill cartridges. Pricing varies by product type and package size. All value packs that provide 120 hours or more of mosquito protection cost less than $0.50 per hour of coverage.

There is only one refill type for all Thermacell Rechargeable Repeller models.
What is the difference Between Fuel-ZoneGuard Repellers and E-ZoneGuard Rechargeable Repellers?
Our E-ZoneGuard Rechargeable repellers are powered by a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery and use a liquid repellent cartridge. This is different from our Fuel-ZoneGuard fuel repellers, which operate using fuel cartridges and repellent mats.
When purchasing refills, it is important to order the correct refill type for your device:
- Battery-powered (rechargeable) repellers use E-ZoneGuard Patio Rechargeable Mosquito Repellent Refills.
- Fuel-powered repellers use Fuel-ZoneGuard Mosquito Repellent Refills, which include both fuel cartridges and repellent mats.
To ensure optimal performance, always verify that you are purchasing the refill type designed for your specific repeller model.
What makes the E-ZoneGuard Adventure Series different from the E-ZoneGuard Patio Series?
Both the the E-ZoneGuard Adventure Series (EX55, EX90) and E-ZoneGuard Patio Series (E55, EL55, E65, E90, E95) are rechargeable, battery-powered mosquito repellers that provide highly effective mosquito protection. How Long Do E-Zone Rechargeable Refills Last
E-ZoneGuard Patio Rechargeable Refills are available in multiple sizes, including 12-hour, 18-hour, 36-hour, and 40-hour options. Refills can be used continuously or across multiple occasions until the rated hours of protection have been reached.
Please note that even if some liquid remains in the cartridge after the advertised repellent hours have been used, the device will no longer provide reliable mosquito protection beyond its rated lifespan.
Some refill sizes are available directly on our website, while others may be found through select retail partners. For extended protection and greater value, multi-pack and value-pack refill options are also available, providing additional hours of use at a lower cost per hour.
What Protection Zone does the Radius provide?
For the Radius, maximum repellency performance occurs within 10 feet around the device (110 sq ft). Repellency may extend beyond this range, but the level of protection will decline as you go further from the device.
What is the E-ZoneGuard Rechargeable Repeller protection zone?
The E-ZoneGuard Rechargaeable Repeller provides a 20 ft zone of protection against mosquitoes. It will begin creating a zone of protection around the device within minutes, but to experience optimal results in the full zone, the repeller should be allowed to run for at least 15 minutes.
What is the battery runtime and recharge time for E-ZoneGuard Rechargeable Repellers?
Battery runtime and charging time vary by repeller model. Examples include:
- E55 / EX55 – Up to 5.5 hours of runtime; approximately 5.5 hours to fully charge.
- EL55 – Up to 9 hours of runtime without the light, or 5.5 hours with the light on; approximately 9 hours to fully charge.
- E90 / EX90 – Up to 9 hours of runtime; approximately 9 hours to fully charge.
- E65 – Up to 6.5 hours of runtime; approximately 2 hours to fully charge.

What do I do if my E-ZoneGuard Rechargeable Refill leaks?
If your E-ZoneGuard Rechargeable Refill leaks, please wipe off any repellent residue with a cloth or paper towel from the repeller. The refill should still be good to use in your repeller. Please wash hands after cleaning of the repellent cartridge.
The amount of liquid in a rechargeable refill cartridge varies by refill size and rated protection hours. Larger cartridges (36-hour and 40-hour) will appear mostly or completely full, while smaller cartridges (8-hour, 12-hour, and 18-hour) contain proportionally less liquid. Variations in liquid level are normal and do not indicate a leak.

If your E-ZoneGuard Rechargeable Repeller is not effectively repelling mosquitoes, try the following:
- Check the refill cartridge to ensure it is properly installed and contains repellent.
- Verify that the device is turned on. The repeller should display four solid LED lights, indicating it is operating correctly.
- Turn the device on at least 15 minutes before use to allow the protection zone to fully establish.
- Position the repeller in the center of the area you want to protect for optimal coverage.

How do I install the Fuel-ZoneGuard Extreme Mosquito Repeller (MR450)
To change the battery in the Fuel-ZoneGuard Extreme Mosquito Repller (MR450):
- Remove the two screws on the back of the device that secure the battery compartment cover.
- Once the cover is removed, you sill see a small white batter tray (batter caddy) inside. Carefully slide the tray out. If needed, use a small flat-head or pointed tool to gently assist with removal.
- Insert the new lithium battery into the tray, making sure the positive (+) side of the battery aligns with the positive (+) marking on the tray.
- Slide the tray back into its housing until it is fully seated.
- Reistall the battery compartment cover and secure it using the two screws you removed ealier.
- Install your cartridge and your MAT, turn the device on and press the igniter a few times. In about 10-15 minutes the LED indicator will be solid blue. Click here for more information and visuals on how to replace battery.

Thermacell Fuel-ZoneGaurd Repellers provide effective mosquito repellency for an area up to 15 x 15 feet (225 square feet), the size of an average deck or patio. You may use more devices to protect larger areas.
Why has my Fuel-ZoneGuard Repeller stopped working, will not ignite.
The fuel supply may be empty. If a replacement fuel cartridge is needed, please turn the unit off and replace the cartridge according to the instructions provided with the product.
If the fuel cartridge does not need to be replaced, ensure the power switch is in the ON position and allow gas to flow for approximately 2 minutes before pressing the Start button. This process purges dust from the appliance and often resolves the issue.

What should I do if my Fuel-ZoneGuard Repeller isn't repelling mosquitoes?
If your Fuel-ZoneGuard™ Repeller does not appear to be repelling mosquitoes, first make sure the device is operating properly and that the orange glow is visible in the viewing window. Also, confirm that you are using a fresh blue repellent mat.
For best results, allow up to 15 minutes for the repellent zone to become fully established. Once the device is operating, remain within approximately 7.5 feet of the repeller to receive optimal protection.
If there is wind or noticeable air movement, position the repeller upwind of the area you want to protect. Please note that strong or continuous airflow may reduce the overall effectiveness of the repellent zone.

Why won't my Thermacell Fuel-ZoneGuard Repeller light?
We understand you are having some lighting issues with your device. Please try the following troubleshooting steps:
- Ensure fuel cartridge is full.
- Tightly screw the fuel cartridge into the fuel port.
- Turn to the on position and wait 10 seconds for gas to flow.
- Repeatedly click the start button (you should hear clicking noise).
- Check the view hole window to see if the orange glow is present.
- Make sure nothing is covering the grill of the device.
- If the above does not work. Please turn your repeller onto the on position wait 4 minutes and then press, click the igniting button to see it the repeller will light.

What is the difference between Fuel-ZoneGuard Backpacker vs generation 1 versus generation 2?
- The Gen2 backpacker has an improved injector regulator valve assembly. It also has a less tolerant valve threading receiver. The Gen2 will in most cases have a batch code number on the valve stem that starts with the letter B####. The Gen2 packaging will also have the following identifiers:
- A yellow bar across the front that reads 16 hour protection.
- The SKU may be listed as MRBPR.
- Gen 2 has a plastic orange ring at the stem bottom base.

Why is my Fuel-ZoneGuard Backpacker repeller not working?
Please ensure that you screw it down the Backpacker completely vertical. Do not hold it an angle as the gas canister will create condensation if held at an angle. This can cause the regulator to be impaired.
Next please ensure that you screw the device down on the the gas canister fully (hand-tight).
Then turn the device on and listen for the gas flow, if you hear the hisssss of the gas releasing, let it do this for about 20 seconds, then hit the igniter a few times. If it still doesn't work, please let us know and we'll take the next steps in replacing the device. Contact Us Thank you.

How Should I Store and Dispose of Fuel-ZoneGuard Repellent Products?
For storage of fuel-powered products, Storage:
- Store unused mats in a cool, dry place inaccessible to children and pets.
- Store mosquito repeller and fuel cartridges in a cool, dry place away from sources of heat.
Disposal: If the cartridge is empty or for used mats:
- Do not reuse empty packaging, wrappers or cartridges.
- Do not puncture or incinerate empty cartridges.
- Place in trash or offer for recycling if available.
- If the cartridge is partly filled or for unused mats: Call your local solid waste agency for disposal instructions. Never place unused mats down any indoor or outdoor drain.
Are Fuel-ZoneGuard Refill cartridges recyclable?
Fuel-ZoneGuard Refill fuel cartridges are recyclable. Please recycle where #7 plastics are accepted.
