Are The E-ZoneGuard Pro Rechargeable Repellers considered toxic?
The Thermacell product is designed to affect mosquitoes within the protected area it creates. While the active ingredient is effective against mosquitoes in that zone, extensive scientific research and regulatory reviews have shown that, when used as directed, Thermacell products do not pose a concern for people or pets.
Thermacell's safety data has been thoroughly evaluated and approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as well as multiple regulatory agencies around the world as part of the product registration process.
As with any pest-control product, it is important to always use Thermacell products according to the label instructions.
Can I Use E-ZoneGuard Pro Rechargeable Repellers Near Water or a Fish Pond?
The US EPA and WHO have concluded that there is reasonable certainty that no harm will result to the environment from use of the product. We will be approaching the EPA with additional data, which we hope will allow us to be clearer going forward about the products safety around water. In the meantime, we must recommend as best practice to run battery powered Thermacell repellers 10 feet away from a body of water. Thermacell products should not be applied to water per label instructions.
Do you use chemicals in the E-ZoneGuard Pro Rechargeable Repeller?
The chemical in the E-ZoneGuard Pro Rechargeable Repeller repellent is Metofluthrin.
How it works & performance
How does the mosquito repellent work?
Mosquito repellents work by blocking or disrupting the cues mosquitoes use to find people. Topical repellents mask scent signals on the skin. Spatial repellents like Thermacell disperse a pyrethroid vapor into the surrounding air, making the zone uncomfortable for mosquitoes to enter or remain in.
Does the E-ZoneGuard Pro Rechargeable Repeller kill mosquitoes?
The Thermacell E-ZoneGuard Pro Repeller is designed to repel mosquitoes, not kill them. The device creates a zone of protection that helps keep mosquitoes away. In a confined or enclosed spaces with no airflow, mosquitoes are exposed to higher concentrations of repellent for an extended period may become incapacitated or die. The primary purpose of the product, though, is to repel mosquitoes and prevent them from entering the protected area.
Where is the best place to put my repeller?
Thermacell Mosquito Repellent product works well in outdoor areas where there is minimal air movement and where you will be spending your time. For best coverage in still air, place the unit close to the ground. This allows repellent to spread over a maximum area. Thermacell products are not intended for indoor use.
Can you leave your E-ZoneGuard Pro Rechargeable Repellers outside?
The Thermacell E-ZoneGuard Pro Rechargeable Battery-Powered Repeller is designed to be durable and withstand typical outdoor conditions. However, like most electronic devices, we do not recommend leaving it outdoors during rain or other severe weather conditions. For optimal performance and longevity, it is best to bring the device indoors when not in use or when inclement weather is expected. This helps protect the repeller and ensures it continues to operate effectively.
What is the E-ZoneGuard Pro Rechargeable Repeller protection zone?
The E-ZoneGuard Rechargaeable Repeller provides a 20 ft zone of protection against mosquitoes. It will begin creating a zone of protection around the device within minutes, but to experience optimal results in the full zone, the repeller should be allowed to run for at least 15 minutes.
What is the battery runtime and recharge time for E-ZoneGuard Pro Rechargeable Repellers?
Up to 13 hours of runtime; approximately 4 hours to fully charge. Actual battery performance may vary based on weather and operating conditions.
Troubleshooting
Repeller Will not Turn On
Place the repeller on charge for 15 minutes, then try again.
Press the power button to display battery status: 3 solid lights = full, 2 = about 50%, 1 = about 25%, and no lights = needs charging.
Check that the top half is fully seated and aligned with the bottom half.
Confirm the top cover is installed. The unit will not run without it.
If the repeller still will not start, contact Thermacell PRO Support.

While charging, look for three white ascending or flashing battery lights.

After charging, turn the repeller on. Four chasing lights should become four solid lights after warm-up.

Battery looks low immediately after charging
On some early-production units, the indicator can remember the last power state before charging.
Turn the repeller on and check the battery again after 30 seconds. The second reading shows the current level.
