Getting Started

How do I install the MR450X battery?

To change the battery in the MR450:

  1. Please ensure that you remove both screws from the back section that cover the battery compartment.
  2. Next, inside you will see a small white tray. This tray is the battery compartment caddy. Please slide the tray out. You can use any fine flat pointed tool to gently remove it.
  3. Then put the lithium battery into the tray with "Postive to Positive" sides facing each other.
  4. Slide the tray back into the caddy receiver section.
  5. Place the back cover back on and tighten the two screws you previously removed.
  6. Install your cartridge and your MAT, turn the device on and hit the igniter a few times. In about 10-15 minutes the LED indicator will be solid blue. If it still doesn't work, please let us know and we'll take the next steps in replacing the device. Click here for more information.

How long does it take fuel-powered repellers to start working?

Once turned on, your Thermacell product will take 10 to 15 minutes to reach maximum effectiveness.

How do I know if my fuel-powered repeller is on?

An orange glow in the view-finder, often on the top of the device, indicates that the Fuel Powered Thermacell Repeller is on.

How is Prallethrin Different From Allethrin?

Prallethrin is a member of the same family as Allethrin (repellent used in your fuel powered repellents) . It has been show to be effective against not only mosquitoes, but black flies and no-seeums.

What are the ingredients in fuel-powered repellers?

Our products contain active ingredients that repel mosquitos and inactive ingredients that assist with their release into the air. Our products contain active ingredients that repel mosquitos and inactive ingredients that assist with their release into the air. Our fuel platform repellent mats use d-allethrin or Prallethrin as the repellent active ingredient. The inactive ingredients include isopropl myristate, a phenolic preservative, pertroleum disllates and blue dye.

What are the materials used in the fuel cartridges?

The C-15 is manufactured from Nylon 66, Brass (the nozzle) and a rubber gasket.

What is the difference Between Fuel-powered and Rechargeable Repellers?

Our rechargeable devices have a built-in rechargeable li-ion battery for power and use a single liquid repellent cartridge. This differs from fuel-powered repellers, which use a fuel cartridge to heat and activate the repellent mat. Rechargeable products are also TSA compliant, so you can bring on an airplane. When purchasing refills, be sure you are ordering the correct type of refill for your repeller. Battery powered repellers use the "rechargeable" refills.

What refills are compatible with fuel-powered repellers?

Refills for Fuel powered repellers: Patio Shield, Torches, Lanterns, Backpacker and all portable repellers.

Any of the below products are compatible with your Fuel powered Repeller:

  • Original mosquito repellent refills Package contains both mats and fuel cartridges and are available in:
    • 12 hours (contains three 4-hour mats and one 12 fuel cartridge)
    • 48 hours (contains twelve 4-hour mats and four 12-hour fuel cartridges)
    • 120 hours (contains thirty 4-hour mats and ten 12-hour fuel cartridges)
    • 300 hours (contains seventy-five 4-hour mats and twenty-five 12-hour fuel cartridges)

What repellers are compatible with Multi-Insect refills?

The multi-insect repellent can only be used on our fuel powered repellers.

What is the warranty for fuel-powered repellers?

Thermacell fuel-powered repellers carry a limited one-year warranty from the date of purchase. If you register your product on the form below, we will increase this to a two (2) year warranty from the date of purchase. Click here for the warranty registration form.

How do you best use a fuel-powered device in colder temperatures?

For best results with fuel powered devices in weather between 40 and 50 degrees Fahrenheit, elevate the top of the appliance (end with view hole) one inch while operating so appliance is at a tilt.

What size is the protection zone for fuel-powered products?

Thermacell Fuel-Powered Repellers provide effective mosquito repellency for an area up to 15 x 15 feet (225 square feet), the size of an average deck or patio. You may use more devices to protect larger areas.

Troubleshooting

Why has my fuel-powered device stopped working?

The fuel supply may be empty. If a replacement fuel cartridge is needed, please turn the unit off and replace the fuel cartridge as shown in the products instructions. If replacing the fuel cartridge is not required, please turn the on/off switch to the on position and let the gas flow for 2 minutes before hitting the start button. This will purge the appliance and often corrects the problem. If the product still does not function correctly after trying the above steps,please contact customer serviceso we can work with you on a repair, replacement, or refund (receipt required for refund).
